The City of Arcadia Police Department has a Medication Drop box located at the City Hall office at 945 S Dettloff Drive. The unit provides a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted or expired medication, including controlled substances. Items can be disposed of with no questions asked Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Drugs can be put into a plastic bag and dropped into the drop box.
What to bring and what not to bring:
Bring: Prescription (controlled and non-controlled), over-the-counter medications and pet medications.
Do Not Bring: DO NOT bring any kind of liquids to the drop off.
Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, inhalers, aerosol cans, bio-hazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), mercury thermometers, personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc...), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas).

To protect the safety of our community and to keep it healthy, and by dropping off your unwanted, unused, or expired prescription drugs will help with this goal. Also, Getting rid of any old or unwanted medication will keep your home safe from accidental use or thief.
Benefits:
The benefits off dropping your unwanted or prescription drugs off will help stop children from accidentally taking the pills. Insures unwanted drugs falling into the wrong hands. Stops the medicine from being flushed into the water system to keep our wonderful water clean. Also, stops someone from getting your information off your prescription bottles.
Another way to dispose of the unwanted drugs into is to grind the medicine up and place it into coffee grounds or kitty litter, or place them into a little bit of water or alcohol to dissolve the drug to make it inactive then throw the medicine into the trash.
